To improve my math skills, I would first check if anything is in my notes about the problem and if not I'd check with a friend to see if they understood the concepts in a way that they could teach me, then if that doesn't work I would email my teacher for help so they can explain it to me again. Then as the material appeared in other assignments I'd watch and see how well I did on each question and see if it's something I still need to work on.
