Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  I would say: “ Teacher, I understand that it may seem like I have turned in my homework late, but this doesn’t mean that you should lash out in anger for something I clearly finished in time, I know what I have done, and I can indeed tell you that I finished my work on time.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I should say: “Ok, I understand that we are just trying to hang out because it’s been a while, and I enjoy hanging out with you dude, but if you’re just going to make me get all prepared but drop out at the last second, I don’t really see the reason to make plans when you’re not going to go, maybe we should just go when you actually have the time.”
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  1. We should be able to give a reason as to why we want something, or why we don’t want to do something. 2. It gives the person who you’re yelling WHY you don’t want to go, and why they should maybe reconsider something next time.
