Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  I know it looks like I didn’t turn my homework assignment in, but it hurts me that you aren’t listening to my side. Please allow me to speak and tell you what happened.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I understand that you are busy, but it hurts me that you aren’t considering my feelings. When we make plans I am looking forward to them and it hurts when you cancel last minute. Please tell me earlier that you can’t hang out instead of canceling the last minute.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  Telling people how you feel will lift a weight off of you and you will feel more comfortable. You will feel more confident in yourself for telling people how you feel respectfully.
