Essay: When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer: Being assertive doesn’t guarantee that you will be respected, either by your friend or an adult. Some adults, and specifically teachers, think it’s ok for them to disrespect us as students. But, when we stand up for ourselves and don’t let them disrespect us, they think that that is being disrespectful. One reason why it’s still important to be assertive, is that you may encourage others, who are usually shy, to stand up to someone who has done them wrong. Another reason is that relationships may become stronger when each other are able to say what’s on their mind, respectfully, and come closer. |
