Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  Dear Mrs. Miller, I know that you believe I turned my homework in late, but I remember turning in my paper on time. I have my homework in the book and Ty worked with me as an alibi. My grades are very important to me.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  Dear Friend, I enjoy hanging out with you but it hurts my feelings and plans when you cancel last minute. I would rather you take more time in planning and seeing what else is in your schedule before planning to hang out.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  To be respectful to others and to get your point across without regret or guilt.
