Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  Hey I know it looks like I did turn it in but I’m telling the truth and I didn’t, will you please reason with me and check again, or give me extra credit to try to maintain the grade.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  Hey I know things change fast, but will you please make sure your schedule is clear the next time we plan to hang out, because it hurts my feelings every time you cancel on me, so please make sure you are fully available.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  Because, passively you wouldn’t be getting anything you want because you wouldn’t be saying what you want or need. Aggressively you wouldn’t get much either because the person wouldn’t want to listen to someone that is just yelling at them and not trying to reason with them.
