Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I would like to discuss the fact that you make plans, and then ditch on me. It hurts my feelings because it makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong to make you not want to hang out with me. If you don’t want to make plans with me don’t make them, and if something happened that causes you to not make it, openly tell me.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  You should communicate assertively in case the other person wants to have a burst of aggressiveness. If you stay calm, but get your point across, the other person is less likely to feel uncomfortable enough to feel passive or aggressive.
