Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  Hello Sir, I understand that you think I turned in my homework in late, but I’d like you to understand that I finished it in time. I worked very hard on this assignment, and I’d like that this isn’t counted in late when I turned it in on time. So if you could, I’d like for it to not be counted late.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  Hey dude, I understand that you keep cancelling our plans because you have things to do, but please don’t make this a common thing. It seems like you always do this, I’m always ready to go, but you suddenly cancel it, so it feels like you do this on purpose. If we’re going to go somewhere, make sure that you’re sure you can go, and tell me before it’s too late.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  Even if I don’t get what I want, I still choose to be assertive so that I don’t hurt that persons feelings. Even if I am enraged or very sad, I still choose to be respective because I respect that person and don’t want our relationship or friendship to end in an agreement.
