Individual Essay Grading For: Assertiveness Course
Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  I understand that you believe I turned in my homework late and that hurts my feelings. Please check the stack of papers again to see if it is there.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I understand that things occasionally come up that are out of your control and you have to cancel our plans. I feel hurt and unimportant when this happens over and over again. Please find the time to carry out the plans we have made.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  I believe that you should communicate assertively even though I won't always get everything I want for the following two reasons: 1) If I don't effectively and assertively communicate my wants, needs, and thoughts then the other individual won't know how I truly feel. 2) By communicating assertively with other individuals I will hopefully have a better relationship with those individuals due to the open communication (at least from my end).
