Essay: Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute. Student Answer: When you cancel plans that we have already agreed to, it makes me feel unwanted and overbearing. I understand that sometime things come up, however this has been a pattern the past 4 times we have made plans. In the future, I would greatly appreciate if you communicated honestly about your other commitments or feelings before making plans. |

Essay: When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons. Student Answer: Some people may not be aware of what you want or there may be misunderstandings/breakdowns in communication.
Compromise is usually always possible, so while you may not get everything, you'll most likely get some things you want. |
