Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  Excuse me, I would just like to let you know that I turned in my homework. I remember turning it in and it's not in my bag. If it's lost, I can help you find it if you want.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I need you to know that if you keep canceling the plans we make last minute after I've prepared, then I will have to stop making plans and focus on something else. If something is going on, you can talk to me about it, but if you just don't want to come, then let me know before making the plans.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  When you communicate assertively, you let people know what you want and need while still being respectful of their wants and needs. If you let someone know what you want or need, they might keep that in mind next time they make a decision that effects you. Even if you don't get exactly what you want, you might get a compromise.
