Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  I understand why you think this is late, but if you'll check the attendance you'll see that I was excused on the due date. I'd like to ask if you would accept it for full credit.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I know you are very busy, but when you cancel at the last minute it leaves me hanging and makes me feel bad. I would appreciate you giving me more advance notice if you think you'll have to cancel our plans.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  It builds confidence in you for future interactions with others. It establishes with that person that you cannot be trampled and will express your views and concerns.
