Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  Mr. Johnson, I saw that I was docked off points from this assignment for it being late. I remember turning it in on time, as google classroom tells you when it is turned in. Would you be able to take a look and add the points that are missing back?
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  Mary, I don't appreciate the lack of respect of my time. Canceling plans over and over again last minute won't work for me. If you would like to hang out, follow through with your plans instead of backing out.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  When you communicate assertively, you don't come across as rude or aggressive to the other person, instead it creates a level of respect for being able to communicate your wants and needs all while being respectful and cordial. Another reason communicating assertively is effective is because if you are too soft and passive, people will use you and assume you are all right with it, because there was nothing ever said about it bothering you.
