Individual Essay Grading For: 23-24 Assertiveness Pre-Test
Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  I know you have been stressed trying to get papers graded. However, I remember turning in my homework on Wednesday during class. Please check on that again.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I know things come up when we had plans, but that doesn't mean you have to wait until the last minute to tell me. I feel hurt that I prepare to hang out and drop all my other plans, just to get informed last minute that our plans are cancelled. Please try to plan when you have a free schedule, and let me know right away if something else cones up.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  1. Telling others what you need or want is important for your own health and well-being. 2. Supporting your own boundaries when someone is pushing them is necessary to keep yourself in the right mindset and place.
