Individual Essay Grading For: JCHS Assertiveness Pre-Test 2023-2024
Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  Good morning Mrs. Green! I would like to ask why you accused me of turning in my homework late. You told me I turned it in late, even though I turned it in the day it was due, and it made me feel frustrated. This has caused my grade to go down which means I could possibly get in trouble, so if there is any way you can check when I turned it in, that would be great. Thank you!
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  Hey Lucy! I would like to know why every time we make plans, you always cancel at the last minute. It makes me feel not important and kind of sad because I am always looking forward to hanging out with you. It also makes available to do things with the people I said no to hanging out with so I could hang out with you. I feel like that makes me look even worse. So, if you could please let me know that would be great. Thank you!
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  Even if you don't get what you want by communicating assertively, it could still have an effect on the person you are talking to. It shows them that you have manners and still try your best to respect people even when you are mad.
