Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  I know that I turned my homework in. I will check my things even though I am pretty sure that I turned it in. I would also appreciate it if you would help by double checking in your things again.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I know that you can't do it now, but try to give me a heads up other than right before if you aren't able to make it. I know that if someone did that to you it could possibly hurt your feelings and you wouldn't feel good about it. Try to look at it from the other persons perspective the next time that you cancel or back out on something.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  You always should be assertive and stand up for yourself, and if you truly know that you are right there is no harm in stating what you believe.
