Individual Essay Grading For: 23-24 Assertiveness Pre-Assessment
Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  I know you think I turned this assignment in late, but I'm assuring you I didn't. I would take responsibility if I really did turn it in late, but I don't want to take blame for something I truly didn't do.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  Listen, I know there could've been a good reason to cancel, but next time, make sure and check your calendar so I can plan according and not waste my time. It's not fun when I have to spend my afternoon with nothing to do because you cancelled on me.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  1) I think you should still communicate assertively because you don't know if you're going to get what you want or not, so it's worth a shot. 2) I think it also shows how you truly feel, and you communicate the issue at hand so that means you don't have to worry about it later.
