Essay:  Imagine that you are facing a challenge and you are not sure you can be successful. Name three things you could do to raise your belief in yourself.
Student Answer:  If I were facing a challenge and wasn't sure I could be successful I would have to first start out by changing the way I think from negative thoughts to positive. Even if I were having doubts that I couldn't succeed in a task I would try to figure out what I can do to get better. I would first write down ways I could challenge myself and over come my challenges. Doing this will help me figure out the first step to building a positive mindset. Second, I would ask for advice and feedback from either a teacher, or close friend depending on what the challenge is that I am facing. This will help me think about the challenge from different perspectives outside my own. This will also help me know if I am overthinking or being to hard on myself. Sometimes I may not recognize or give myself credit for the things I have done. Instead I focus on just the things I haven't done correctly. Third, I could put in more effort to help me get better at whatever it is that is challenging me. For example I took a math class one time and I failed the math class because I was never good in math and doubted myself. Then it came for me the opportunity to retake it and I did. I learned that I had to really apply myself, study harder, solve more problems on my own, and retake quizzes if I failed. Long story short I passed with a B the second time and was very proud of myself.
