Essay: For a project, you want to design a model but your partner wants to give a presentation. How would you approach the conflict using different styles?
Student Answer: We could discuss each idea at length, and then return to the assignment to try to re-evaluate which method might be more applicable to the prompt. If there is still an impasse, I would try to determine if my partner feels more strongly than I do about which method we choose, and weigh that against how certain I am that my way will be more effective. If my partner is really attached to the idea of a presentation, I would ask myself how I could fit my ideas into the presentation-- this could mean designing a model and putting it into the presentation (collaboration), or I would find another meaningful way to feel good about my contribution to the presentation (compromise). |
