Individual Essay Grading For: Fall 2024 Assertiveness Pretest
Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  I know for a fact that I turned in my paper. If something happened to it after that, it isn't my fault. Maybe it was misplaced, or maybe it fell out of where you keep the homework.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I understand things come up suddenly, but if you make plans with me and I clear my schedule I expect you not to cancel on me. I clear my schedule so we can hang out and spend time together and you decide not to.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  You won't have a chance of getting what you want if you always put other people before you. If you don't stand up for yourself people will walk all over you.
