Individual Essay Grading For: Fall 2024 Assertiveness Pretest
Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  Although it may seem to you, Mrs. Roberts, that I turned in my assignment late I can assure that I did not. I had my assignment completed and turned in at the end of class on Monday. I had a recollection that it was due by the end of the day on Monday. This would ensure that I had it turned in on time.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I understand that you are very busy, although it is exhausting to keep getting our plans cancelled. I really would like to spend time with you it's just hard for me when almost always I know they will get cancelled. This creates me to miss things that I could have done because I designated time with you.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  It creates for a better way of communication between the people discussing the matter. It also makes you look more professional with how you are communicating your wants and needs when it comes to a business matter.
