Individual Essay Grading For: Fall 2024 Assertiveness Pretest
Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  I am sorry, but in all due respect, you're wrong. I turned in the assignment on time. You said that the assignment was due at the end of class, but you marked it late because i did't turn it in before the end of class.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I know things come up, but it is not a good habit that you're making when you constantly cancel the plans you make. It wastes your energy to plan so thoroughly, and it wastes my time to prepare for it, just to not follow through. I hope you understand and get better at this.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  Because if you don't people don't take you as seriously, and it also helps push you out of the conversation by being shy or unable to speak your mind
