Essay: Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute. Student Answer: I know you have a busy calendar which creates complications, but when you cancel our plans last minute it hurts, especially after I've already gotten ready. Essay: When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons. Student Answer: You should still communicate assertively because say you don't get what you want out of it. You still managed to de-escalate a potential arguement, while still voicing your opinions. Often time if both sides of the argument are voiced well and everyone can understand the other's perspective, you'll usually be able to get some sort of compromise, even if it's not the perfect solution for you. Asserting your problems will ensure that you are not left in the dust when a resolution is decided upon. |
