Individual Essay Grading For: Assertiveness Pre-Test
Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  I understand that you believe I turned my homework in late. However I did not turn my homework in late, I turned it in to you at the end of class before it was due.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I do want to hang out with you but I am getting frustrated by you canceling last minute. It is making it hard to plan properly. I'd like you to make sure the date and time works before we plan anything and if you don't actually want to hang out, please tell me.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  Communicating assertively makes my boundaries clear to the other person without coming off disrespectful or angry. It also means that in the future they handle a situation differently so we both feel good about it.
