Essay: Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late. Student Answer: I would like to apologize for the inconvenience, I understand that I've been accused of turning in the Farewell to Arms assignment late. I know the truth though, and the reason is because the sub forgot to manage the turn in papers last week, and the assignment got misplaced. I understand that this is very confusing, but I don't have any control over it and have already finished the assignment, but if you need me to redo it I am ok with that because I don't want it to wear on my reputation and trust as your student. |

Student Answer: I have noticed that when I've been making plans with you, I get cancelled on at the last minute. I don't understand, and feel confused, but I'm not going to take it personally because I don't know what you are going through, so with that I hope you are okay, and I wish you the best. |

Essay: When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons. Student Answer: I think that even though you aren't going to get what you want, you shouldn't expect that, the part that matters is that you communicate effectively not just depending to hear what you would like to hear. Your voice matters, and you should communicate this, so it matters to be assertive but not overly aggressive, and it prevents miscommunication because you are actually communicating the truth with the other person and that is key |
